Halfway through their 100th anniversary year in 2008, the staff at Western States Envelope & Label, Milwaukee, Wis., discovered a film from 1941 in the company conference room. The film was converted to a DVD, and footage showing how the business operated nearly 70 years ago is now on the company's YouTube channel.

Jim Feldman, president of FORMost Graphic Communications, Rockville, Md., hired an intern to help create the company Facebook fan page and plans to continue hiring interns to run the page.

Kodak CMO Jeffrey Hayzlett has more than 13,000 followers on Twitter and nearly 4,000 "tweets," or microblog posts, on his page.

"Social media marketing" is arguably one of the most popular phrases in the business world as we enter 2010 popping up all over business publications, online forums, conference schedules and even the PSDA principals' listserv. While some printing industry marketers are still dipping their toes in the water, and others jumped right in a couple of years ago, the result is unanimous: social media marketing can no longer be ignored.
