VistaPrint Targets Large Enterprises
VistaPrint Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, launched a 24 x 7 web-based service that helps large, geographically dispersed organizations provide customized and consistently branded marketing materials across the enterprise. VistaPrint Business Solutions offers a comprehensive and customizable solution for the design, production and distribution of sales and marketing materials, the company said. It also reduces cost and brand inconsistency when widely dispersed field sales and marketing agents create their own marketing materials using different products, methods or vendors.

HP to Acquire Design Service Firm
HP signed an agreement to acquire Arteis, a privately held company that operates Logoworks, a web-based graphic design service provider. HP plans to leverage Logoworks’ technologies and services that range from simple logo designs to the development of a full suite of marketing collateral.

Flint Group to Acquire Day International
Flint Group, a privately owned global supplier to the printing industry based in Luxembourg, has announced an agreement to acquire Day International, a large supplier of printing blankets, pressroom chemicals and other printing industry consumables. Day will operate as a business unit within Flint Group, and the combined companies will rank among the largest pressroom consumable suppliers. A joint press release said nearly 8,300 employees will serve customers from 170 locations on five continents. Combined revenues for 2007 are estimated to be $3.3 billion. Flint Group was created in 2005 by the union of Flint Ink Corporation and XSYS Print Solutions. Founded in 1905, Day International is owned by funds advised by GSC Group, Cowen and Company, and by Day management.

European Company to Acquire Cutter & Buck
Cutter & Buck Inc., a designer and marketer of golf and sportswear in the United States, signed an agreement to be acquired by New Wave Group AB, a designer and marketer of consumer products for promotional and retail markets in Europe. Under the terms of the agreement, Cutter & Buck shareholders will receive $14.38 per share for a total cost of $156.5 million. Cutter & Buck employs 380 people and reported net sales of $131 million during its fiscal year ended April 30, 2006. New Wave has 2,200 employees and net sales of $512 million for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2006.

WorkflowOne Lands Multi-Year Contract
WorkflowOne, Dayton, Ohio, announced this week a multi-year contract with Great Wolf Resorts Inc., North America’s largest family of indoor water park resorts. Workflow One will be the key provider for print and brand management services, as well as outfitter to the company’s 3,500 employees, from lifeguards to restaurant and hotel staff. WorkflowOne will provide logistics, supply chain, brand and print management services, including business cards, forms, direct mail and marketing collateral to support existing properties and growth plans. Each Great Wolf property will use WorkflowOneAccess, a new web-based system for ordering and supply chain management. WorkflowOne, a wholly owned subsidiary of Workflow Management Inc., which also owns Freedom Graphics Services and United Envelope, has more than 3,000 employees.

Corporate Express Opens Facility
Corporate Express Inc. opened a state-of-the-art facility in Austell, Ga. The facility offers an expanded product selection, including office products, imaging and computer graphic supplies, document and print management and an advanced distribution center.

New FedEx Truckload Brokerage
FedEx Custom Critical Inc., a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., Memphis, Tenn., has introduced a new company to meet customers’ truckload shipping needs. FedEx Truckload Brokerage offers full-service truckload brokerage for regular, dry-van freight, oversized pieces requiring flatbed trailers and shipments requiring temperature control. Ennis Reports Financial Results
Ennis Inc., Midlothian, Texas, reported financial results for the quarter and the year ended Feb. 28. Revenues increased by $25.3 million over the last year—a 4.5 percent increase. Earnings before income taxes increased 3.8 percent for the year to approximately $66.4 million. For the year, net sales increased by approximately $25.3 million, from $559.4 million to $584.7 million.

Deluxe Q1 Profit Up 40 Percent
Deluxe Corp., Shoreview, Minn., said first-quarter profits increased more than 40 percent because of lower costs and strength in its personal check business. For the three-month period ended March 31, the company posted net income of $35.2 million compared with $24.7 million in the same period last year. The company reported revenue of $403.8 million, down nearly 2 percent from $411.4 million, a year earlier.

Avery Dennison Q1 Net Income Rises
Avery Dennison Corp., Pasadena, Calif., said its net income rose 15 percent in the first quarter, helped by sales in Europe and emerging markets. Quarterly earnings rose to $79.2 million from $68.7 million in the prior-year period. Revenue grew 4 percent, to $1.39 billion from $1.34 billion.

Green Business Award for Arthur Blank
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino recognized Arthur Blank & Co. for its commitment to environmentally sustainable products by presenting the company with the 2007 Boston Green Business Award. Arthur Blank & Co. received the award for the introduction of the industry’s first non-PVC, corn-based card, CornCard USA, and a new recycled PVC card, the AB RecycledCard.

Printable Technologies Wins Award
Printable Technologies Inc., Solana Beach, Calif., won a Corporate Sponsor Award from Clemson University’s Department of Graphic Communications for supporting the department’s annual Graphic Communications Awards Night held in April. Printable provides fully functional software applications to the department, which offers training on variable data and web-to-print storefronts.
