Global DocuGraphix Files for Bankruptcy
Global DocuGraphix Inc. and its wholly
owned subsidiary, Global DocuGraphix (USA) Inc., reported July
18 that they filed petitions under Chapter 11 of the United
States Bankruptcy Code with the United States Bankruptcy Court
in Dallas. Global DocuGraphix Inc.’s subsidiaries GDXdata
Inc., and TopForm Software Inc., have not joined in the
petitions and continue to operate normally, the company said.
The action was taken by the company to attempt to conclude a
sales process that it has been exploring over the last few
months, it said. The company asked the court to schedule a
sales process to conclude in August, along with other first-day
motions, including requests to pay pre-petition wages and
benefits, continue utility services, and maintain normal
banking services. Global Docugraphix provides a variety of
custom printing, promotional products, office products,
scanning and document management solutions, inventory
management and specialty product online ordering.
Fiserv Acquires Jerome Group
Fiserv Inc. acquired The Jerome Group LLC,
which will become part of the Personix division of Fiserv
Output Solutions. Andrew Kohn, CDC, president of The Jerome
Group, retired. Ken Brown, a 26-year veteran of Jerome, will
remain as executive vice president and lead the new Fiserv
division. Jerome Group’s 300 employees will join Fiserv.
Jeff Yabuki, president and CEO of Fiserv Inc., said,
“Jerome’s unique ability to mass produce
personalized marketing and membership materials will enhance
Fiserv’s existing client relationships. In addition, we
will be able to offer complementary services to Jerome’s
client base which consists of both mid-sized and Fortune 500
companies across the country.” Fiserv, a Fortune 500
company, provides information management systems and services
to the financial and health benefits industries. Headquartered
in Brookfield, Wis., Fiserv reported more than $4 billion in
total revenue for 2005. Jerome offers integrated, production
and digital services to meet clients’ direct marketing
needs. Jerome’s revenue in 2005 was $44 million.
The Shamrock Companies Purchases RBF
The Shamrock Companies Inc. purchased RBF
Inc. effective June 30. Jim Russell, CDC, RBF president, said
RBF will continue serving its existing markets with expanded
offerings from The Shamrock Companies. The company will be
known as RBF Inc., a Shamrock Company. “We saw a good fit
to grow RBF and provide great opportunity for our customers and
employees,” Russell said. “In addition, while many
companies expressed an interest in RBF, we felt The Shamrock
Companies also represent the same values and principles that
RBF was founded and operated on.” The Shamrock Companies
is a full-service marketing communications and project
management firm offering advertising, print, data management
and IT services, broadcast media, promotional products,
fulfillment services and more. RBF offers document management
solutions, including content and knowledge management, document
control, forms automation, document imaging, archival and
retrieval and print management.
Microforms Purchases Assets of Continuous
Forms
Microforms completed the purchase of assets
of Continuous Forms Inc. effective July 14. “The merger
creates a larger, stronger, technologically more advanced plant
to provide you with better service and greater
flexibility,” said James R. Griffith, CDC, former
president of Continuous Forms, in a letter to CFI clients.
Griffith, DMIA’s manufacturing vice president in 1987-88,
will serve as development director of Microforms. Microforms
offers short run, custom-designed forms and checks. Continuous
Forms offers custom short and medium run continuous, snaps and
cut sheet business products.
Cenveo Acquires Label Firm
Cenveo Inc., Stamford, Conn., acquired Rx
Label Technology Corp., a portfolio company of Pfingsten
Partners LLC and Hilco Equity Partners LP, in an all cash
transaction expected to be accretive to earnings in 2006. With
annual revenues of approximately $40 million, Rx Label
specializes in labels used to dispense prescription drugs to
consumers. The company offers all three prescription label
technologies: simplex, duplex (both integrated and dual-web)
and thermal roll. Its products include vinyl shelf labels,
pricing labels, case labels, pallet labels and returnable
plastic container (RPC) tags for Fortune 500 companies in the
mass merchant, drug store chain, grocery, and distributor
business markets. Rx Label, which will now be named “Rx
Technology,” operates from its facility in Joplin, Mo.,
and employs 120 people.
Source4 Acquires Metro Graphic
Communications
Source4 acquired distributorship Metro
Graphic Communications Inc. effective July 1. Metro Graphic
Communications has offices in Gaithersburg, Md., and Manassas,
Va.
“Doug Van Der Linden is a true
pioneer and legend in our industry,” said Dan Siadak,
CDC, chairman and CEO of Source4. “He started Metro 47
years ago when he was 25 and was one of the first distributors
in the National Business Forms Association (NBFA), now DMIA. In
fact, he was instrumental in writing the original bylaws of the
association. He served on the board for 12 years and is a past
president. Guys like Doug paved the way for guys like me today
and I am truly grateful.” Siadak also served as
DMIA’s 2000-01 president and a board member. Van Der
Linden, chairman of Metro Graphic Communications, will retire.

products, and fulfillment and distribution services. Metro
Graphic Communications offers commercial printing, direct mail,
promotional products, warehousing, distribution, fulfillment
and more.
WorkflowOne to Offer Print Services to
Health Care Organization
WorkflowOne, Dayton, Ohio, was awarded a
multi-million dollar, multi-year contract from Allina Hospitals
and Clinics, a previous Relizon client. WorkflowOne will be the
preferred provider of print management services for
Allina’s 11 acute care hospitals, 65 clinics and other
health care facilities in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
WorkflowOne is an approved supplier of Novation, the
contracting services company of VHA Inc. and University
HealthSystem Consortium.
Quebecor World Consolidates Cincinnati Area
Printing Facilities
Quebecor World Inc., Montreal, Canada, is
consolidating its Cincinnati area magazine printing operations
into one facility to improve customer service, maximize asset
utilization and increase efficiency. Work produced at the Red
Bank, Ohio, facility will to be transferred to the Lebanon,
Ohio, plant and other facilities in Quebecor World’s
magazine platform. To accommodate the additional volume, the
Lebanon operations are being expanded. Approximately 150 of the
300 employees at the Redbank facility will be offered transfers
to Lebanon. The plan is expected to be completed by the end of
the fourth quarter of 2006. The closure of the Red Bank
facility will involve restructuring charges of approximately
$4.2 million.
International Paper Relocates Global
Headquarters
International Paper relocated its global
headquarters to Memphis, Tenn., from Stamford, Conn., effective
July 1. The company first announced plans to relocate in August
2005. International Paper’s global headquarters are
located at International Place, 6400 Poplar Ave., Memphis,
Tenn., 38197. The company employs approximately 3,000 people in
Memphis.
