NEW HIRES
*Roger Buck, CDC, was hired as business development manager at Appleton Security Papers, Appleton, Wis. In his new position, Buck develops security solutions for end users and promotes security paper lines to manufacturers. He has more than 35 years experience in the industry, most recently at Ward/Kraft Inc.

*Phil Sperling was hired as the finance and technology manager of Printco Inc. in Omro, Wis. He is the third generation of Sperlings to work at the family-owned printing manufacturer. In his new position, he focuses on the business’ financials and developing new uses for recently added software and hardware.


Jacobson

Jeff Jacobson was hired as president and CEO at Presstek Inc., Hudson, N.H. Previously, Jacobson was vice president and COO of the Graphic Communications Group at Eastman Kodak. In his new position, he is working to increase the company’s involvement in digital offset printing and continue its expansion in international markets. Wayne Parker, CPA, was hired as director of internal audit at Presstek. In his new position, Parker leads the company’s Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts. Parker was most recently director of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance at the Graphic Communications Group and has also worked for Kodak Polychrome Graphics and Harborview Partners.

Tom Anacker was hired as director of business analytics at WorkflowOne. Anacker is responsible for financial and operational reporting to support the company’s long-term strategies, and data collection from various operations. Previously, he has worked for General Electric, United Technologies, Arvin Meritor Inc., Lastar and Incan Lion

Kevin Akeroyd was hired as president of Quebecor World’s Targeted Direct Marketing division. In his previous position, Akeroyd was CEO of GalleryPlayer, which specializes in HD digital content services. He also worked for R.R. Donnelley’s direct marketing and premedia groups for 10 years.

Dale Patterson was hired as segment manager of packaging and product manager of flex plates at Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group, Rochester, N.Y. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the package printing industry. In his new position, Patterson oversees marketing of package printing and specifically of flexographic printing plates. Kevin Joyce, managing director of the United States and Canada region of Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group, was appointed to the NAPL board of directors. Joyce has more than 18 years’ experience in executive sales, marketing and business. He has worked at Kodak Polychrome Graphics and Creo Products. He has also participated in PIA/GATF and the Web Offset Advisory Committee.

Sharon Maxey and Susanne Metz have been hired at CGS Publishing Technologies International, Minneapolis. Maxey, a color management specialist, works as a technical support employee for customers and the sales force. Metz works as a public relations and marketing manager for Europe, Asia and Oceania. Bernd Rückert has been promoted to product manager, where he is responsible for ORIS product analysis, definition and strategy.

Vicki Blake was hired at Integrated Color Solutions, New York City, as vice president of business development. She is responsible for assisting in the global adoption of virtual proofing within the graphic arts and packaging industry. Blake was previously employed at Enfocus Software and Esko Graphics and has worked on industry technology integration committees.

David Emeny was hired as managing director of Wyndeham Heron at Wyndeham Press Group, London. Emeny has more than 30 years’ experience in the printing and publishing industry. Steve Goodacre, Wyndeham Heron Interim Finance Director, has accepted that position permanently. Previously, Goodacre was employed at Rank Hovis, Phillip Morris, Lehman Brothers and Adal Group.

Kirk Brauch was hired as business and technical support manager for the Chicago region at Adstream America, New York City. Brauch has worked at Apple Computer, R. R. Donnelley, FujiFilm and CertiFyle, and has experience with LAN/WAN communications, systems engineering, workflow analysis, process engineering, and Internet-based tool development.

Barry Kohn was hired as chief financial officer at Vertis Communications, Baltimore. Previously, Kohn served as CFO for United Plastics Group, Aftermarket Technology Corporation and Grimes Aerospace Company. James G. Foley was promoted to senior vice president of human resources at Vertis. Previously, Foley was vice president of the human resources department and has 27 years of experience in the industry.

Mark Cattini was named president of Pitney Bowes Marketing Services, a division of Pitney Bowes, Stamford, Conn. Cattini directs the strategic plan of the marketing segment. Most recently, he was CEO of MapInfo, which was acquired by Pitney Bowes.

Gurland

PROMOTIONS
*John (J.P.) Shea was named American Ambassador by American Solutions for Business. In this newly created position, Shea assists in responding to prospective sales associates, coordinates corporate office visits and works as a sales adviser. Shea has been a sales associate at American Solutions for Business for 11 years, where he earned numerous awards and commendations.

*Jade Springer was promoted to account representative at Block Graphics, a division of Ennis Inc. in Portland, Ore. Previously, Springer was an inventory and billing specialist and has worked at Block for nearly five years.

Leslie Gurland was promoted to president of Logotech Inc., Fairfield, N.J. Previously, Gurland was vice president of the company, and served as general manager of sister company CLP Packaging Solutions. In her new role, Gurland focuses on equipment developments and working with Logotech’s other divisions, including Tadbik Pak, Logotech Labeling Systems and CLP. Gurland is also treasurer of the Northeast Label Manufacturers Association

IN MEMORIAM
Bruce Elliot, 73, owner of Data Forms Inc., passed away on May 5 after a short illness.
Elliot, born in Booneville, N.Y., began a career in printing after graduating from high school and started his company in Reno, Nev. He retired at age 42 and traveled; his son Mike now owns Data Forms. Elliot is survived by a large family of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
