*Boise Paper, Boise, Idaho, introduced a new group of direct silicone-coatable release liners called AdvantEdge. The liners use Boise’s adaptive coating and calendering system, combining glassine, super calendared kraft and clay coated kraft properties. The new capabilities will be available through an expansion project at Boise’s Wallula, Wash. facility. AvantEdge is available in auto-applying label release, regular label release, graphics release, and tapes and industrial release.

*Badger Tag & Label Corp., Random Lake, Wis., developed a synthetic stock to print custom tags and labels. Companies that use pressure sensitive paper labels, and steel or metal tags, can benefit from the features synthetic stocks offer and also save money, said Kathy Rassel, sales/marketing manager at Badger. Synthetic stocks are recyclable and do not fade.

Hewlett-Packard, Palo Alto, Calif., introduced three new pieces of equipment for the digital market. The presses include the Indigo 5500, available with a special photo package, and the Indigo 3500. The company also introduced its first branded finishing piece, the Indigo UV Coater, for use with existing HP machines. At the same time, the company released the mPRinter 1700c, a process-color device for its equipment manufacturer partners; the Designjet T Printer series, for the technical market; and the Deisgnjet Z6100 printer series, which offers speed, quality and consistency to print service providers, the company says.

Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Basel, Switzerland, introduced a high-speed application conductive ink, designed for printing RFID antennae on graphic arts materials and packing. The ink is designed for rotary and flat bed screen application, and has superior line definition, the company says.

Lexmark International Inc., Lexington, Ky., introduced a new thermal inkjet print system, Lexmark Mustang Printer, for OEM customers developing VDP applications. The system can be integrated with an end user’s existing transport base or packaged as part of a ready-to-run VDP solution. The system offers superior speed and agility, the company says, with speeds up to 760 feet per minute and resolutions up to 600 dpi.

Xerox, Stamford, Conn., introduced the DocuColor 800 AP digital press, which offers 80 ppm regardless of paper weight or media type, the company says. The press can handle coated and uncoated papers, transparencies and synthetic materials such as polyester. It toggles between “all weights” mode for a matte finish or “single weight” mode for a glossy finish.
