Four51, Minneapolis, celebrated in November 2006 an increase in clients of 396 percent over November 2005, representing a 174 percent increase in transactions from the same period last year. The company attributes the growth to the increasing adoption of web-to-print solutions as a means to extend the reach of a traditional sales force.

Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, N.Y., printed a commemorative softcover photographic book of the work of famed rock and roll photographer Neal Preston. The book functions as both a catalog for Kodak and part of an invitation package announcing a newly opened exhibit of Preston’s work. Profits from the exhibition’s opening night will benefit a recovery program for wounded U.S. military personnel.

International Paper, Memphis, Tenn., announced two new Springhill paper products: a digitally printed calendar and a journal. The calendar was printed with five popular digital presses on a variety of stock to show how the paper performs on different equipment.

DocuLex Inc., Winter Haven, Fla., released self-guided production imaging software, Discovery Capture, at a LegalTech conference in New York. The litigation-support program is touted for on-screen instructional functionality for document capture, image processing and export to prominent legal management programs. Discovery Capture was designed for vendors, law firms and corporate legal departments, and it’s a SQL-based program that works with TWAIN-compliant document scanners.

Neenah Paper, Alpharetta, Ga., purchased more than 10 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy, representing 12 percent of its total energy purchase for its manufacturing facilities, located in Wisconsin. The purchase, composed of wind, solar and low-impact hydro and biomass energies, qualifies the company for membership in EPA’s Green Power Partnership program. The ENVIRONMENT brand papers and two finishes of the EAMES paper collection will be made entirely with renewable energy.

Neopost, Woodbury, N.Y., introduced two new document folder machines, the PF-55 and the PF-75. These are stand-alone folders designed to save time by using advanced technology, AutoBatch, a dedicated multi-sheet feeder, and intuitive set-up. Both systems offer upper and lower fold plate adjusters for custom folds and telescoping outfeed stackers, which accommodate Z, letter, gate, double parallel, fold-out and single folds.

EFI, Foster City, Calif., introduced an environmentally friendly solvent ink, BioVu, derived from corn. The ink is EPA-certified and designed to run in high-production superwide format printing presses. It does not require hazmat disposal or special ventilation and burner systems, as it is VOC-emissions free.
