NEW HIRES
DMIA MEMBER Craig Wienkes joined Independent Printing Company Inc., De Pere, Wis., as vice president of sales and marketing for the company’s national division. He replaces Karen Gregg, who retired at the end of the year. In his new role, Weinkes oversees the sales and marketing efforts for the folder and check divisions and serves on the executive management team. Prior to joining IPC, Wienkes worked at Van Lanen Inc. for ten years and as a district sales manager with Moore-Wallace.

DMIA MEMBER Pat Larson was hired as marketing director at Repacorp Label Products, Tipp City, Ohio. She promotes the company’s custom labels, RFID labels, and other product lines. Larson has 26 years’ experience in advertising and promotions, and most recently worked as a creative director for a software performance support company.

 

Dennis Lizier was hired by UniGraphic Inc., Woburn, Mass., as director of operations for its Uni@Large division, a new wide-format branch housed in a newly-built plant. Previously, Lizier served as Manager for ABC Imaging in Boston, and also worked for Flextec in Nashua, N.H.

 

Mike Jackson was hired as president and CEO of Verso Paper Holdings LLC, Memphis, Tenn. Previously, Jackson served as senior vice president at Weyerhaeuser in Federal Way, Wash., where he worked for 29 years.

PROMOTIONS
John Schneider was promoted to vice president and general manager of Zip-Pak, Manteno, Ill. He is now responsible for five Zip-Pak businesses in North America as well as new product development and new initiatives in the meat, cheese, pet food and poultry industries. He has been with the company for 11 years.

Eigo Ishibashi was promoted to CEO at RISO Inc., Danvers, Mass. Ishibashi, who has been with the company since 1991, previously served as executive vice president.

 

 

Also, Todd Deluca was promoted to President and COO of the firm. Deluca was most recently the vice president of direct sales and marketing at RISO.

 

 

AWARD
DMIA MEMBER Lisa Butler, a sales representative for Ward/Kraft Inc., Fort Scott, Kan., was awarded a “Big 50” engraved airplane for presenting at more than 50 Ward/Kraft On Site seminars. The seminars are 90-minute weekly education sessions held nationwide. Butler, a 24-year veteran of the company, is the ninth employee to receive this award.

 

IN MEMORIUM
George E. Phelps, Jr., 63, president and CEO of Caledonia, N.Y.-based Allen Bailey Tag & Label, died on October 31 after a brief battle with cancer. Phelps started his career at Allen-Bailey in 1968, where he gathered a lifetime of print industry achievements, friends and associates. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their children, Jennifer and George Edward, seven grandchildren, his mother Bernice J. Salmiere, and his siblings Janet Phelps, Jennifer Chapman, Laurie Beardsley and Richard Phelps.

Denis McGrory, CFC, 79, founder of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.-based Pioneer Business Forms Inc., died of cancer on October 28. McGrory, a Navy veteran, started in the print industry at Moore Business Forms and enjoyed a 35-year career before his retirement in 1988. He is survived by his wife Carolyn McGrory, son John McGrory, daughter Denise Dallman, stepson Daniel Dugger, stepdaughters Judith Muraki and Suzanne Risee, and five grandchildren.
