Appleton, Appleton, Wis., added a print-side identifier to the ream edge of its NCR PAPER brand Xero/ Form® II carbonless paper. It works with the print-side identifier arrow on the ream label, and its markings include arrows that point to the papers’ print side. The identifier helps reduce waste by eliminating paper loading errors, the company said. Xeikon, Lier, Belgium, launched the Xeikon Print Protector. The device protects digitally printed matter during traditional finishing and mail-sorting system handling. The protector applies a water/wax/silicone oil emulsion on both sides of the digital print. This forms an invisible protective layer that makes all Xeikon printed documents stand up to daily wear and tear, while keeping colors bright and accurate, the company said. It’s compatible with all Xeikon print engines and can be used in different modes (sheet, web or stand-alone) to meet each printer’s needs. Nazdar, Shawnee, Kan., announced the validation of its NDI 400 Series inks for use in Mutoh Toucan™ large-format digital printers using the Spectra™ Nova drop-on-demand printhead. NDI 400 series inks are resistant to UV degradation and color fading, and maintain high-intensity colors outdoors for up to two years, the company said. They’re ideal for back-lit applications, and demonstrate high-quality adhesion and flexibility on most self-supporting flexible and pressure sensitive vinyls. PLP Digital Systems Inc., Scottsdale, Ariz., released its PlotWorks® Convert soft-copy plotting solution that batch-converts single and multi-sheet drawings to print-ready format. Lake Image Systems, Fairport, N.Y., launched its IntegraScan line scan-based data verification and reporting solution that verifies and proves the integrity of piece-level production. IntegraScan images an entire web sheet with a single camera, providing real-time verification of each piece, including multi-up applications, the company said. Its capabilities include comparison of production-to-print file information, identification of missing and duplicate pieces, front and back matching, base stock verification, print quality inspection, data acquisition for ADF environment, pin-number logging and production-integrity reporting. Mitsubishi Imaging, Rye, N.Y., announced that its DPX 4 platesetter offers cost-efficient performance of Silver Digiplate™ polyester plates to printers who run 4-up presses. Developed jointly by Mitsubishi Paper Mills Ltd. and Vandalia, Ohio-based Esko-Graphics, the DPX 4 produces up to 26.7 x 29.5-inch, press-ready plates with minimum operator intervention, the company said. X-Rite, Grandville, Mich., announced plans to move corporate headquarters, including manufacturing operations and offices, to Kentwood, Mich., before June 2006 for long-term growth. It uses automation and a user-friendly guided workflow to  simplify the creation of International Color Consortium (ICC) profiles for digital printing.
