Marketing = Experimenting with New Ideas
In science a lot of imagination can lead to new discoveries. Marketing operates
much the same way. There are basic rules of how to properly create a press
release, implement a direct mail campaign or build a web site, but there's plenty of wiggle room for innovative thinking. Of course, R.O.I. influences
marketing decision-making, meaning some companies lean toward tried and true
methods of getting their message out. But, some companies wiggle more than
others, experimenting and testing a mix of basic marketing principles with new
ideas to produce positive results.
In this issue we feature several distributors and manufacturers who are doing
just that and were willing to share the stories of how they created winning
1-to-1 marketing campaigns, strong trade show presentations, standout web sites
and more. (p. 38) We also offer advice from marketing consultants who shared
their opinions on topics as varied as
“How do you know your brand has grown stale?” to “How do you make a successful cold call?”
This issue also features a look at growing trends within the retail market (p.
80). Industry players weighed in on changes they've seen and what they expect to see in the ad specialties and RFID markets.
