Ennis to Acquire Block Graphics
Ennis Inc., Midlothian, Texas, entered into a letter of intent to acquire
substantially all of the assets of Block Graphics Inc., Portland, Ore. The
acquisition, when completed, will include the use of the trade name Block
Graphics. Ennis expects that many Block employees will become part of the Ennis
family.
The move continues Ennis’ strategy of growth through acquisition of industry firms that manufacture
products sold by print distributors. The acquisition adds additional short run
print products (snap, continuous forms and cut sheet forms), as well as the
production of envelopes. Block Graphics had sales of $35 million for the year
ended Dec. 31, 2005.
Over the last few years, Ennis has acquired Specialized Printed Forms Inc.,
Tennessee Business Forms/Avant-garde, Alstyle Apparel Inc., Crabar/ GBF, Royal
Business Form Inc., and Calibrated Forms Co. Inc.
Source4 Acquires Taylor Business Products
Source4, Huntersville, N.C., announced that it acquired distributorship Taylor
Business Products (TBP), North Wilkesboro, N.C., effective June 1.
“I have known Phil Taylor, CFC, the owner of TBP, for years, and Phil and his
staff will make a great addition to the Source4 team,” said Dan Siadak, CDC, chairman and CEO of Source4. “Coupling their service philosophy and experience with Source4’s programs, depth and variety of product offerings and technology solutions
creates a dynamic, winning combination for everyone involved: clients,
employees and suppliers.” Siadak served as DMIA’s 2000-01 president.
Taylor, a former DMIA board member, and all TBP employees will continue to work
with Source4. Taylor’s wife, Pat, who was TBP’s secretary and treasurer, has retired. Source4 offers document management,
print and marketing communications, technology solutions, business products,
fulfillment and distribution. TBP offers commercial printing, office supplies,
labels, business forms, promotional products and more.
RB&O, SWM Join Forces
Riley Barnard & O’Connell Inc. (RB&O), Maryland Heights, Mo., said that it acquired distributorship SWM Inc.
effective June 5. Almost all employees of Maryland Heights-based SWM will
continue working with RB&O, said Jim Riley, CFC, president and owner of RB&O. As a result, RB&O is undergoing a re-branding process to develop a new name and identity that
better reflects the company’s services and position in the marketplace, said Riley, who also is DMIA’s vice president.
RB&O offers a variety of products and services, including laser documents, pressure
sensitive labels and bar coding systems, integrated labels and cards, self-seal
documents, security documents, direct mail, in-house digital print-on-demand
center, inventory management and distribution and records management. SWM
offers state-of-the-art graphics, promotional products and e-commerce.
Business Forms Inc. Purchases Belknap Assets
Business Forms Inc. (BFI), a division of Liberty-Pittsburgh Systems Inc., said
it acquired certain assets of Belknap Business Forms Inc. BFI will now handle
Belknap’s traditional forms product line. Dave Stroup will continue to be BFI’s general manager. BFI has already received current files and production
material related to the jobs it acquired from Belknap. J. Buster Weinzierl,
CDC, president of Belknap, recently announced the closure of the company’s facilities in Mayville, N.Y., because of insurance-related problems that
emerged after an April 1995 fire forced the manufacturer to rebuild its
facility.
Centurion to Acquire ABP from TimeMed
Centurion Inc. announced that it’s acquiring ABP from current owner TimeMed Labeling Systems Inc. Centurion
offers business printing, forms, labels, and related retail business
consumables while ABP provides business forms, labeling solutions, and
promotional products and merchandise. Both the companies have served the retail
market for years. The acquisition gives Centurion and ABP customers access to a
wider range of business products, they said.
Wright Business Forms Completes Purchase of Cal Snap & Tab
Wright Business Forms Inc., in affiliation with Wright Imaging Solutions Inc.,
completed the purchase of Cal Snap & Tab Corp. The West Coast company now has annual revenues of more than $50
million and 315 employees. Cal Snap & Tab will continue to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wright Business
Forms. Gene Snitker, Cal Snap & Tab’s former president, will be part of the transition team. Wright Business Forms
now has manufacturing facilities in Portland, Ore., Kent, Wash., Atlanta and
City of Industry, Calif.
American Solutions for Business Wins Contract
American Solutions for Business (ASB) finalized another agreement with a
Novation health care facility. Trinity Mother Francis Health System (TMFHS),
Tyler, Texas, signed a multi-year document management agreement with ASB to
implement a guaranteed savings program through the Novation Supplier Agreement.
TMFHS is one of the nation’s top 100 health care systems with more than 570 physicians on staff.
Novation was established in 1998 when VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem
Consortium (UHC), two national health care alliances, consolidated their
supply-contracting functions. Based in Irving, Texas, Novation acts as the
contracting services company for both alliances to help them manage and reduce
supply costs. In 2004, ASB was selected by Novation as a primary vendor to
provide business and promotional products to Novation facilities.
