With 600-d.p.i. output, the Konica can image a variety of features, including jumbo numbers, all bar code symbologies, graphics and photographs. It can print 81/2 x 11-inch sheets at 75 pages per minute. It handles 16# bond to 110# index paper in sizes from 51/2 x 41/4 inches to 12 x 18 inches, as well as labels, transparencies, carbonless paper and never-tear stock paper. American Forms, Plano, Texas, a division of American Pad & Paper LLC, added an E.C.H. Will sheeter and Pemco packager at its Plano plant. At 1,600 feet per minute, the sheeter produces various configurations of custom cut laser sheets in sizes of 81/2 x 11 inches, 81/2 x 14 inches, 11 x 17 inches and A4. It's fully automated with packaging and palletizing features. To ensure quality control, American Forms maintains the sheeter in a newly created, climate-controlled room. Previously, the software-compatible stock forms were available only from Smyrna, Ga. Datagraphic also added 91/2 x 7-inch continuous checks. Top and bottom check positions are available. Ward/Kraft Inc., based in Fort Scott, Kan., signed a licensing agreement with prescription-label distributor ABP Pharmex. The agreement allows Ward/Kraft to sell ABP's PharmeXcript laser script set in conjunction with Ward/Kraft's pharmaceutical products, including integrated labels, joined webs and uni-webs. PharmeXcript features FlickAway Technology, which combines vial and warning labels into one format with a perforated edge and allows unneeded warning labels to be easily flicked away, according to Ward/Kraft. Marathon Label Company Inc., Wausau, Wis., began its Prime Color Division, which includes a 17-inch, 8-color Mark Andy label and tag press. Graphics Illustrated Inc., Riviera Beach, Fla., a printing subsidiary of envelope manufacturer Mail-Well Inc., won the North American Printer of the Year Gold Award in the brochure category. Graphics Illustrated was recognized for superior printing craftsmanship of a 17 x 111/2-inch, spiral-bound marketing brochure it created for ad agency Young & Rubicam. The competition drew more than 2,800 entries and was sponsored by paper manufacturer Sappi Fine Paper North America.
