MeadWestvaco Corp., Stamford, Conn., introduced a portfolio highlighting the packaging and graphic benefits of its Crescendo® coated one-side paperboard. Offered by the company’s Packaging Resources Group, the portfolio, which includes an envelope and folder, also contains a perforated full-color sample carton that can be easily removed and assembled to illustrate Crescendo’s performance for packaging needs. The portfolio contains complete manufacturing target information, including basis weights or grammages, thickness, calipers, internal bond scores, and moisture and stiffness levels for Crescendo in five languages. Avery Dennison Corp., Pasadena, Calif., launched its ADvantage™ business response document. Offered by the company’s Business Media Division, ADvantage features components of a successful mail campaign in a single piece. These include pressure sensitive incentive labels used for return addresses, a response-reply card, an integrated business-reply envelope, and space for the sender’s campaign message. The company images the components to enhance the mailing’s personalization. Available in 8 1/2 x 11-inch and 11 x 17-inch formats, the mailers run on high-speed xerographic imaging equipment. EMTag offers a synthetic material with a built-in wrist band and labels with bar codes for proper patient identification. It’s available with both stock and custom numbering, and complements the existing stock products for the medical and pharmaceutical markets. Labels West Inc., Woodinville, Wash., installed an Indigo WS 4050 Digital Label press at its Woodinville facility. The press allows economical production of high-quality labels for short to medium runs with quantities as low as one label, the company said. The press is ideal for producing prototypes and multiple versions with minimal set-up between versions and no plate costs. It has the ability to add variable imaging, foil stamping, varnishes and laminations in-line, allowing distributors to respond quickly to customer requirements at competitive prices.
