John
Bunton
was named general manager at FileAmerica,
Fordyce, Ark. He previously worked
at Pomona, Calif.-based Keystone
Automotive.
Rob
Newlin was named general manager
of manufacturer Ennis Inc.’s
Paso Robles, Calif., plant. The
Paso Robles plant specializes
in laser, continuous, cut sheet
and snapout forms and checks,
as well as software-compatible
forms and fulfillment. Newlin,
who has 17 years of experience
in the printing industry, previously
worked at Moore Wallace.
Dennis
Ryan was named director of
RFID business development at Repacorp
Label Products, Tipp City, Ohio.
He’s responsible for growing
the label converter and specialty
printing company’s RFID
“smart label” business,
and supporting its reseller and
distribution partners in North
America. Ryan, who has 25 years
of experience in electronic component
sales, most recently served as
director of sales for Denpa-ID,
a manufacturers’ representative
company focused on RFID transponder
and contactless smart card sales
in the United States.
Frank
Dickinson was named chief
technology officer at Affinity
Express Inc., an Elgin, Ill.-based
provider of outsourced graphic
services for the printing, embroidery
and promotional products industries.
He develops and implements the
company’s technological
vision, including strategy, product
architecture, systems design and
management, infrastructure planning
and software development. Dickinson,
who has more than 14 years’
experience in research and development,
project management, software design,
rating and billing, marketing
and technical team building, most
recently served as senior vice
president of marketing and product
management at Viziqor Solutions
Inc. David McTarnaghan
was named senior vice president
of sales.
Adam
McNeill was named director
of marketing and sales at CE Printed
Products Inc., Carol Stream, Ill.
He builds client relationships
and markets the company’s
envelope, business card and stationery
products. Prior to joining the
manufacturer, McNeill served as
senior production manager at Eire
Direct Marketing, Chicago.
Ralph
J. Nappi will serve as president
of Reston, Va-based NPES—The
Association for Suppliers of Printing,
Publishing and Converting Technologies,
as well as the Graphic Arts Show
Company and the Graphic Arts Education
and Research Foundation. He currently
serves as president of the American
Machine Tool Distributors’
Association, Rockville, Md. Nappi,
who will be president effective
Jan. 1, 2006, succeeds Regis
J. Delmontagne, who will continue
to serve as a consultant to all
three organizations.
Bob
Tack was named director of
sales at Mimeo.com, New York City.
He previously served as director
of strategic accounts at Standard

Matt
Johnston was named director
of web marketing. He previously
served as director of e-commerce
at Herman Miller Inc. Robert
Eric Reeves was named director
of materials. He previously served
as manager of materials and operations
at Thomas & Betts. Kenneth
“Skip” Trevathan
was named COO. In this newly created
role, Trevathan leads all daily
operations for the company’s
Memphis-based centralized document
production facility. He oversees
print production, quality assurance,
procurement and materials, and
customer care. Trevathan most
recently served as vice president/global
offering director at Electronic
Data Systems (EDS) and managing
director of logistics operations
at Federal Express Corporation.
Ken
Menconi was named president
of F.C.L. Graphics, a Chicago-based
full-service printing company.
Other members of the company’s
new executive team include Phil
Bauman, vice president of
operations; Dino DeVivo,
vice president of production;
and Mike Dato, vice president
of purchasing.
Menconi
Ray
Cortese was named regional
manager at San Francisco-based
IO Integration (IOI), a systems
integrator focused on building
workflow efficiencies for advertising
agencies, commercial printers,
prepress providers and retail
publishers. He’s responsible
for sales and support activities
in Chicago and the central United
States. Cortese previously worked
as an account production specialist
for Konica Minolta Business Systems,
where he oversaw business development
in Chicago for print production.
Richard
Cochran was named project
manager at Lincolnshire, Ill.-based
Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses
U.S.A. In this newly created position,
Cochran primarily serves customers
who purchase specialized technology,
such as large-format presses,
perfectors and UV curing systems.
He previously worked at Fort Dearborn
Co.’s., Niles, Ill., and
Lake Forest, Ill., plants.
Gerard
Grossano
was named vice president of direct
sales at Neopost, Hayward, Calif.
He oversees a 300-person sales
force and manages direct sales
across North America. Grossano
previously served as vice president
of sales for a division of Corporate
Express.
Chip
Quayle was named team leader
at Pictorial Offset Corporation,
Carlstadt, N.J. He coordinates
customer jobs through sales, production,
manufacturing, distribution, scheduling
and administration. Quayle previously
served as production manager at
Palio Communications, Saratoga
Springs, N.Y.
Bob
Lopez has returned as president
of Integrated Imaging Corporation
(IIC), a graphic services provider
based in Carlstadt, N.J. The company
disbanded in 2004, but recently
re-established with a new network
of financial and strategic partners,
including Carlstadt, N.J.-based
Pictorial Offset Corporation.
Under terms of their agreement,
IIC has access to Pictorial’s
manufacturing platforms, including
mailing and distribution services,
as well as Pictorial’s new
product development.
PROMOTIONS
Jean-Michel Ribieras was
named vice president of International
Paper’s newly merged converting
papers and pulp business, based
in Memphis. Ribieras has held
sales and global business management
roles for International Paper
in Europe and the United States.
Most recently, he was the vice
president and general manager
of the supplier’s pulp business.
Hal
Stratton was named director
of new technologies at MAN Roland
Inc., Westmont, Ill. Stratton
serves as the company’s
chief liaison with manufacturers
and suppliers pursuing computer
integrated manufacturing (CIM)
initiatives, and industry organizations
that promote new technologies.
He joined MAN Roland as prepress
applications manager at the company’s
technology center. He most recently
served as the center’s head.
Marc Cupp joined MAN Roland
as sheet-fed district sales manager
for Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
He improves the productivity and
profitability of the region’s
printing companies by providing
them with MAN Roland product and
service solutions. Cupp previously
worked for Cork Industries Inc.,
a direct manufacturer of water-based
and UV coatings, where he opened
the Texas market. Jason Elliott
was named director of service
support operations for the Web
Service group at MAN Roland Inc.
He develops and implements service
products focused on the success
of MAN Roland’s web press
users. He also implements customer
satisfaction programs and fulfills
Web Service’s training requirements. Elliott
previously served as commercial
print trainer for the Web Service
group.
Jurgen
Gruber was promoted to director
of sales at NELA-USA, Oakdale,
Minn. He previously served as
product manager of newspaper sales.
IN
MEMORIAM
Bruno
Asmann, 37, died in a private
plane crash in July. Asmann was
lead product manager at MAN Roland
Inc., and a veteran skydiver and
certified jumpmaster. He was en
route to New Smyrna Beach, Fla.,
with three skydiving colleagues
when their Cessna 172 went down
shortly after takeoff from Key
West International Airport. A
native of South Africa, Asmann
spent his entire career in the
graphic arts, starting as a mechanical
engineering apprentice with Heidelberger
Druckmaschinen AG in 1990. Four
years later, he moved to America
to become a product engineer for
Heidelberg USA and subsequently
was promoted to the role of product
manager. He joined MAN Roland
in 2003 as southern regional director
of product management and was
promoted to lead product manager
in 2005. Asmann is survived by
a wife, two children, his parents
and a brother.
RECOGNITION
Marc
Laucks,
president of Marc Laucks and Company
Inc., York, Pa., earned his Certified
Document Consultant (CDC) accreditation.
He successfully completed an extensive
examination on the design, construction
and application of business forms
and document systems. Laucks also
met the strict experience qualifications
required for the certification.
He’s one of the few DMIA
members in Pennsylvania to earned
the accreditation, and the only
one in central Pennsylvania.
International
Business Solutions Alliance,
Indianapolis, Ind., recognized
its top affiliates and suppliers
at its annual conference and trade
show in Las Vegas. DFSI, Addison,
Ill., and Block Graphics, Portland,
Ore., were named Suppliers of
the Year. Eagle, Orange, Calif.,
and Data Forms, Greenland, Ark.,
were named Affiliates of the Year.
Four new Charter Affiliates also
were named at the conference:
Eagle, Orange, Calif.; Lancer
Ltd., Spokane, Wash.; QBF, Minneapolis;
and FRI Resources Inc., St. Louis.
Three affiliates received awards
for their roles as liaisons to
national accounts: Jane Warmke,

owner of Integrity Document Solutions,
Indianapolis; and Dave DeWitt,
owner of Ace Computer Essentials,
St. Clair Shores, Mich.
David
Ashkenaz, president of Ashkenaz
Consulting, Deerfield Beach, Fla.,
completed seven years of installing
and training printing companies
on PrintSmith software. PrintSmith
is a business management software
package to aid printers in developing
estimates and invoices.
Timothy
M. Andrews, president of the
Advertising Specialty Institute
(ASI), Trevose, Pa., was named
board member of the American Red
Cross—Lower Bucks County
Chapter. In January, ASI collected
donations for the Red Cross International
Response Fund to address the tsunami
disaster in Southeast Asia and
Western Africa, by offering a
matching gift if ASI members and
employees could raise $25,000.
Within three months, cash
contributions totaled $97,446.
RESIGNATION
Steve Smidt resigned as
vice president of sales, Western
region, at Logomark, Irvine, Calif.
Jason Emery, vice president sales,
Eastern region, will temporarily
assume Smidt’s duties.

IN
MEMORIAM
Charles
M. O’Connor,
89, passed away Sept.
29. He was the founder
of The Northeast Company,
a distributorship in
Middletown, Conn., which
he began in the basement
of his home.
O’Connor
was an early and active
member of NBFA (now DMIA).
In 1974, he won first
place in the Business
Forms Reporter Magazine’s
“Form of the Year
Contest.” He served
on NBFA’s Board
of Directors, and was
among the first in the
industry to earn accreditation
as a Certified Forms Consultant.
Additionally, all three
of his sons—James,
Richard and Daniel—became
CFCs and active members
of the association. “He
treasured his many friendships
within DMIA,” said
Richard O’Connor.
“He was proud to
volunteer his time to
work with people that
he considered the finest
professionals in the business
forms industry.”
The
Northeast Company grew
from a one-man shop into
a successful, multi-million
dollar organization featuring
an office complex and
distribution center that
offered state of the art
print management services,
from design to warehousing.
In
2001, The Northeast Company
joined SFI, a division
of Workflow Management,
Palm Beach, Fla. O’Connor
is survived by two sons,
Richard C. O’Connor
and Daniel F. O’Connor.
He was predeceased by
his wife Florence and
eldest son James, who
died in 2001 and who also
served on the NBFA Board
of Directors.
