PROMOTIONS
Sharon Hoefert was promoted to customer service manager of supplier Northwest Coatings, Oak Creek, Wis. Previously, she coordinated the customer service department for five years. Prior to joining the company's customer service department, she served on its technical staff. Kathy Adam joined the company in the newly created position of controller. She's responsible for the company's financial and accounting functions and other related administrative duties. An experienced controller, Adam previously served another organization of a similar size and a top-five accounting firm.
NEW HIRES
Kurt H. Mather was named global security technical manager for Stamford, Conn., supplier Westvaco Brand Security, a wholly owned subsidiary of MeadWestvaco Corp. He's responsible for managing the expansion of the Westvaco Brand Security technical service organization, which addresses brand owners' needs in the design and implementation of customized brand protection programs. Previously, Mather served as director of customer service and business development for Loparex, a provider of silicone-coated release liners for use in pressure sensitive labels.
Rick Miller joined Dayton, Ohio-based manufacturer Crabar/ Witt LLC as a sales executive for distributor sales in the Southwest region. Miller, who has more than 18 years of business forms and printing experience, is based in Garland, Texas.
Stephanie Ketcham joined the composition/graphics department at manufacturer Service Continuous Forms, Glassboro, N.J. She's responsible for coordinating the firm's new in-house composition department. Ketcham received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Rowan University.
Bob Hagen, CFC , was named Mid-Atlantic sales representative for Medfield, Mass., manufacturer Arrow Business Forms & Labels Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of GBF Graphics Inc., Skokie, Ill. He works out of his Zebulon, N.C., office. Previously, Hagen served as the Southeastern sales representative for a Northwest label manufacturer.
Debra Dearborn joined distributorship Relyco Sales Inc., Dover, N.H., as a client services representative. Doug MacGregor joined the firm as a telesales department account executive. Pam Manes was named an account executive for outside sales. Cheryl Murphy joined the firm's marketing and client services department. Sara Wentworth was named an account executive for the firm's telesales department.
Marvin Baida, MAS , joined distributorship franchise Proforma as owner of Proforma Promotional Generation, West Toluca Lake, Calif. With more than 43 years of experience, Baida has served on the board of directors for the Specialty Advertising Association of California, on the Editorial Advisory Board for Corporate Logo Magazine and with many philanthropic organizations.
Timothy N. Teen was named to the newly created position of CEO of Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., manufacturer Cosco Industries' Graphic Technologies Group, including Die Technology Associates, Boston, and Cosco Graphics, Toledo, Ohio. With more than 17 years of executive leadership and general management experience, Teen is responsible for increasing Graphic Technologies Group's product and service offerings and market share. Previously, he served as president and CEO of a technology-based conglomerate.
Paul Baudisch joined Directech eMerge, a direct marketing and e-marketing provider in Lexington, Mass., as executive vice president. He's responsible for account management and business development. Previously, Baudisch served as general manager of eCRM systems and services for Circle.com, an interactive agency that's part of the Havas Advertising network. In 1995, he co-founded NetMarquee, an internet direct marketing and online content agency that Circle.com acquired in 1999.
Steven Abbott joined supplier SICPA North America Inc., Brooklyn Park, Minn., as vice president of specialty packaging business development for North America. A graduate of the London School of Printing, Abbott has approximately 30 years of experience in the liquid inks packaging industry and with ink-related products and services. He has experience in laboratory management, technical sales, customer support management, and North American and international strategic marketing.
Richard M. Connor joined Westmont, Ill.-based supplier MAN Roland Inc. as director of corporate accounts and regional sales manager. Reporting directly to Vince Lipinski, the company's senior vice president of web operations, Conner serves as MAN Roland's executive liaison with newspaper decision-makers across North America. He also oversees the company's Eastern region newspaper press sales operations. Previously, Conner served as executive vice president of marketing for Graphic Management Associates Inc., a subsidiary of Muller Martini.
Jim Boyden was named a senior technical sales representative for St. Louis-based supplier Western Lithotech, a Lastra Group Co. He's responsible for commercial sales of Western Lithotech's line of conventional and computer-to-plate (CTP) printing plates in the Northeastern region. Boyden, who previously served on Western Lithotech's sales team for 12 years, returned to the company after spending three years with Kodak Polychrome Graphics. David Dalto joined the company as a technical sales representative. He's responsible for commercial sales of the company's line of conventional and CTP printing plates in the Northeastern region. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Dalto previously served 3M and Imation.
Brenda Sexton was named administrative assistant for the International Business Solutions Alliance (IBSA), a Bowling Green, Ky.-based alliance of distributorships that aims to give distributors a new business model to help them grow, reduce costs and compete against the majors. Sexton serves on IBSA's executive committee, develops strategies and implements plans for distributor services, and serves as a liaison between IBSA's board, members and strategic partners. Sexton has 21 years of experience in the newspaper business and previously served as the general manager of a biweekly publication.
AWARDS
Joseph J. Corcoran II , vice president of operations for Bay City, Mich.-based manufacturer The F.P. Horak Co. and a 1978 graduate of Ferris State University's Printing Technology program, was one of three recipients of the university's Distinguished Alumni Award. The award was presented at the university's Spring Reunion Banquet, held May 9 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Big Rapids, Mich. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership and service to their profession, community service organizations and alma mater. Through their accomplishments, recipients also have helped guide the celebration of diversity. A regular guest lecturer at Ferris State University, Corcoran serves on the advisory boards of the Printing and Imaging Technology Management Department and the Technology Transfer Center. He also coordinates F.P. Horak's activities for the United Way of Bay County and represents the company on the Alliance for Bay County Schools, helping to develop and administer a high school job-shadowing program.
Michael Tubbs , prepress supervisor for manufacturer Phoenix Data Inc., Montgomery, Pa., earned accreditation as a Certified Document Consultant (CDC). To earn CDC certification, business document professionals must pass a 250-question exam on the design, construction and application of business forms and document systems. The exam is administered by DMIA. The CDC designation denotes detailed knowledge of business procedures, products, technology, design, materials, production and equipment. Before joining Phoenix Data in 1989, Tubbs attended Pennsylvania College of Technologies, where he majored in graphic arts.
