PROMOTIONS
John Richardson was promoted to production manager at Printegra's Indiana plant. Richardson supervises and directs all plant employees and assists with strategic decisions for the Peachtree City, Ga.-based manufacturer. He previously served as general manager at the company's Texas plant. Terry Reynolds was promoted to general manager in Yorba Linda, Calif. He most recently served as OE/comp manager at the same site. Michael Toney was named Southwest regional sales manager. He most recently worked in a sales position outside of the industry. Craig Bastas was named Central regional sales manager. Bastas has held numerous positions such as plant production manager, customer service manager, sales representative and sales manager.
Dan Hopkins was named national sales manager at InfoSeal LLC, a designer and manufacturer of self-mailers headquartered in Roanoke, Va. Hopkins leads the company's sales team, developing national accounts and supporting distributors on InfoSeal's self-mailer forms and equipment. He previously served as Southeast regional sales manager. Susan Morris was named regional sales manager. Based in Fort Smith, Ark., Morris will expand the company's presence in the West. She previously served as customer service supervisor at TRANSKRIT Corp., Roanoke, Va.
Jim Elliott was named vice president of operations at Fusion UV Systems Inc., Gaithersburg, Md. Elliot has worked at Fusion UV for the past 10 years, overseeing manufacturing operations.
Russ Brown was named project coordinator at Binding Edge, a full-service bindery headquartered in Neenah, Wis. He oversees projects from the estimating stage to the manufacturing process. He also is a contact for new customers. Before his promotion, Brown served the company in various positions. Dennis Sweere was named operations manager. He oversees day-to-day production, researches new machinery and processes, identifies production problems, and attends to employee development.
John Laabs was appointed director of marketing at Fox River Paper Company, Appleton, Wis. Laabs leads the company's marketing department, which includes strategic marketing disciplines and product development. For the past six years, Laabs has worked in various sales and marketing capacities for both Fox River and Gilbert paper brands.
NEW HIRES
Lynn Brewton was named executive vice president of business development for UnigraphicsUSA, Phoenix. She assists the company's distribution channels in acquiring and servicing national accounts. Brewton previously served as vice president of national accounts for Consolidated Graphics Inc., Houston, and president of Carpenter Reserve Printing Co., Cleveland.
Michael Cate was named president at Corporate Express Document & Print Management, Broomfield, Colo., a subsidiary of Buhrmann NV. Cate most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Global DocuGraphix Inc., a national business services organization headquartered in Houston. He joined Corporate Express in 1999 as president, north Florida division, and served as president, south Texas division from 1999 to 2002.
Marie-Christine Brutus was appointed sales engineer and training coordinator at digital-imposition solutions supplier Dynagram, Quebec, Canada. Her position is part of the company's strategy to enhance sales and technical support services to its partners. The strategy also calls for a new network of certified training partners worldwide and additional tools to further training initiatives.
Bill Mahoney was named sales manager of the cartons division at M-real USA, a paper and paperboard supplier headquartered in Norwalk, Conn. Mahoney, who has more than 20 years of sales experience, previously worked for Durango-Georgia Paper Company (formerly Gilman Paper).
Kelly Drinkwine was named assistant sales and marketing manager at Tranter Graphics Inc., a Syracuse, Ind.-based supplier of disposable food-service products. Drinkwine previously worked for ABC-TV in New York City, where she was responsible for all off-channel advertising and promotion for ABC Sports.
Steve Bierly was named director of sales for C-Line Products Inc., Mount Prospect, Ill. Bierly targets new and existing accounts, oversees the company's national key account managers and manages its office products sales. He previously served as director of commercial sales at Hunt Corporation, Philadelphia. Mike LoCascio was named national key account manager. He works with C-Line manufacturer representatives and key accounts, and manages the group's performance in the West. He previously served as Western regional manager for Hunt Corporation.
Doug Still was appointed parts marketing manager at supplier MAN Roland, Westfield, Ill. Still oversees all marketing-related activities for the company's parts sales team. His duties include creating and publishing marketing communications that increase parts support for MAN Roland's sheetfed and web press customers. Still joins MAN Roland with more than nine years of B-to-B marketing experience. He has marketed products in the automotive, pipe and valve maintenance, and textile screenprinting industries.
John Valla was named product development specialist at Nazdar, a supplier in Shawnee, Kan. Valla is responsible for developing and testing new products. He'll work closely with Nazdar's customers and the company's marketing and sales departments.
RECOGNITION
Tami Wainscott of The Allen Company, Blanchester, Ohio, received a Certified Advertising Specialist industry certification from the Promotional Products Association International, Irving, Texas. The certification requires 70 classroom hours of instruction, three years' experience in the promotional products industry and a passing score on the CAS certification exam.
APPOINTMENT
Kemal Carr, president of industry research and consulting firm Madison Advisors, Colleyville, Texas, was appointed to the board of directors at Xplor International, a not-for-profit association headquartered in Torrance, Calif. Carr has been a member of Xplor since 1996 and active in the association and local chapters through committees. Prior to forming Madison Advisors in 2001, Kemal held various system roles, including three years with the industry analyst group at Doculabs and seven years in the systems company of Fidelity Investments.
RESIGNATIONS
Peter Dorsman resigned as COO of Standard Register, Dayton, Ohio, and the position has been eliminated. Dennis Rediker, president and CEO, has assumed direct operating responsibility for the company. The following positions were also eliminated: president, document and label solutions; president, fulfillment services; and vice president, corporate communications.
Lloyd "Buzz" Waterhouse, CEO, chairman and president of Reynolds and Reynolds, Dayton, Ohio, resigned from the company and its board of directors. Current Director Philip A. Odeen now is chairman and acting CEO. Odeen, a former chairman of TRW Inc., Livonia, Mich., serves as lead director of Reynolds' board of directors. Dale L. Medford, executive vice president and chief financial officer, has assumed the role of chief administrative officer. Reporting to Medford are the sales, marketing, document solutions, finance, investor relations and supply management departments. Douglas M. Ventura, executive vice president and chief financial officer, has become acting executive vice president of operations. Reporting to Ventura are Reynolds Services Group; Reynolds Software Solutions; Reynolds International; and the business development, legal, communications and human resources departments.
OBITUARY
Robert (Bob) Benson, an account representative with Control Printing Group, Independence, Mo., for approximately 20 years, passed away in July. Benson earned Account Executive of the Year for CPG in 1993, 2001 and 2003. Prior to CPG, he worked for UARCO.
