Peak

Promote Innovation in the Marketplace

By LaShell Stratton and Rebecca Trela

The second Annual Print Excellence And Knowledge (PEAK) Awards competition was held in June to acknowledge companies that not only met customers’ printing needs through creativity in design, manufacturing, fulfillment and other services, but also solved problems for end users or improved their clients’ businesses.

The judges had glowing words about how many of this year’s entries showed even more ingenuity than last year’s premiere competition. “The contest has promoted more innovation over the prior year,” said Judge Joe Schwan. “The horizon in the market place is definitely broadening.”

The competition attracted 220 entries from North America, Australia and Japan. Participating distributors and manufacturers submitted entries in 34 categories that covered the wide expanse of products, applications and programs that the print industry has to offer, from 4-color multi-component commercial printing to ecommerce and promotional products. This year special award categories included: Best Distributor Kit, Self Promotion – Simple, Self Promotion – Complex, Money Maker and Time Saver.

At the 2006 Print Solutions Expo & Conference in Chicago, Grand Award winners in the PEAK competition will receive plaques honoring their achievements at a banquet Oct. 3, the first day of activities at the conference and expo. Grand Award winners in each category are listed below along with Award of Excellence winners, who will receive certificates. In some categories, judges also designated some Award of Excellence winners deserving of “special recognition.”
